When Is the Best Time to Hike in Tirana?
Spring and autumn generally offer the best conditions for hiking around Tirana, with milder temperatures and more comfortable conditions for longer days on the trail.
April to June is an excellent time to visit, with greener countryside, wildflowers and generally pleasant temperatures around Dajti, Bovilla and the surrounding hills.
July and August can become very hot, particularly on exposed routes around Lake Bovilla and lower hills. If you’re hiking during summer, start early, carry plenty of water and avoid the hottest part of the afternoon.
September and October bring another excellent hiking window, with cooler temperatures and often clearer conditions across the mountains surrounding Tirana.
November to March is cooler and wetter, while snow and ice can affect higher trails around Mount Dajti. Lower walks such as Farka Lake remain more accessible, although conditions should still be checked before setting out.
